How Safe is Air Zimbabwe
As to the safety record, Air zimbabwe has one of the best satefy records according to statics, the last recorded accident was in 1979 when it was still called Air Rhodesia. However what has to be noted is that even though they have the a good safety record, air zimbabwe has deteriorated rapidly as zimbabwe is struggling with the world's highest hyperinflation

Fatal Events Since 1970 for Air Rhodesia/Air Zim
The following events are those involving at least one passenger death where the aircraft flight had a direct or indirect role. Excluded would be events where the only passengers killed were stowaways, hijackers, or saboteurs.
1. 3 September 1978; Air Rhodesia Viscount; near Lake Kariba, zimbabwe: The aircraft was on a scheduled flight from Kariba to Salisbury when it was hit by a missile fired by fighters from the Joshua Nkomos zimbabwe Peoples Revolution Army (ZIPRA). The aircraft had a forced landing about 19 miles (30 km) from the Kariba airport. All four crew members and 34 of the 52 passengers were killed. Ten others who survived the landing were later killed by those who shot down the airliner.
2. 12 February 1979; Air Rhodesia Viscount; near Lake Kariba, zimbabwe: The aircraft was on a scheduled flight from Kariba to Salisbury and crashed after it was hit by two missiles. All four crew members and 54 passengers were killed.
Note: These two events were not accidents, but rather deliberate actions that took place during a time of war. The risks associated with these conditions no longer exist in.
